Bridges cited in NCTM publication

Bridges in Mathematics is the curriculum used in the district highlighted in Shifting Roles and Responsibilities to Support Mathematical Understanding, an article in October 2008 issue of Teaching Children Mathematics published by NCTM.  Co-author Pia Hansen is an independent consultant, MLC leader, and author of Bridges Grade 3.

Bridges Scope and Sequence

Bridges Scope and Sequence documents are available to assist in the evaluation of the curriculum as well as in planning implementation. Versions include an overview of the units and topics for each year, content by NCTM strands, and summary of the curriculum by month.   

Bridges in Blended Classrooms

Combining grade levels is challenging in many respects, including adaptation of curriculum and materials. Bridges co-author, Allyn Fisher, has written new grade-level specific guides to assist in formulating an approach to using Bridges in blended classrooms. The documents below are also available on the Bridges grade level pages within Support for Materials.   

Bridges Gr 4 Case Study, Oregon

Results from the 2006-07 Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills shows that overall 83% of Bridges students from three districts met or exceeded the math standard, compared with 71% of their peers statewide.   

Sojourner Elementary Honored

The Math Learning Center offers our sincere congratulations to Sojourner Elementary of North Clackamas Schools in Milwaukie OR, selected this year as an Intel School of Distinction in elementary mathematics. We applaud their approach to education as reflected in a commitment to teacher development and a focus on student centered-learning.

Bridges Home Connections in Spanish are now available online.  You may view and/or download these documents at no charge via the grade level support pages.  

Bridges Meets CA Ed Code

All grade levels of Bridges in Mathematics were recently deemed to be in full compliance with the social content requirements of the California Education Code. 

Although Bridges is not on the state adoption list, schools and districts may use either Proposition 20 Lottery Funds or any Instructional Materials Funding Realignment Program (IMFRP) funds remaining after the purchase of required instructional materials.
