Bridges Student Achievement - Grade 5

Morgan Hill, CA2003-2007 |
Case Study 1A fifth grade teacher at Morgan Hill Elementary charter school field-tested the pre-publication version of the Bridges in Mathematics Grade 5 curriculum during the 2006-07 school year. The results from the mathematics section of the statewide test for 2006-07 show that the Bridges students outperformed their peers statewide in aggregate and for each subgroup with reportable data. In addition 5th grade scores at Morgan Hill were substantially higher than prior years. |
Oregon City, OR2006-2007 |
Case Study 2A fifth grade teacher at Carus Elementary field-tested the pre-publication version of Bridges Grade 5 during the 2006-07 school year. The 2007 results from the mathematics section of the statewide assessment show the Bridges students outperformed their peers by over 20 percentage points. |
Oregon2007-2008 |
Case Study 3A district in Oregon implemented Bridges Grade 5 during the 2007-08 school year. The results from the mathematics section of the statewide assessment show the Bridges students outperformed their peers overall including in two of three reportable subgroups. |
Middlebury, VT2005-2008 |
Case Study 4Math test results for a cohort of second grade students from Addison Central Supervisory Union (ACSU) were tracked over a four year period beginning in the fall of their third grade year. Compared to their peers statewide, a higher percentage of the ACSU students scored at Proficient and Above and outperformed their peers by an increasing margin in each year of the study. |
Wenatchee, WA2006-2007 |
Case Study 5A fifth grade teacher at Newberry Elementary field-tested the pre-publication version of the Bridges Grade 5 curriculum during the 2006-07 school year. The Bridges students outperformed their peers with 74% exceededing the mathematics standard compared with just 32% of the students statewide. |
Washington2007-2008 |
Case Study 6Data from five districts in Washington that used the Bridges Grade 4 curriculum during the 2007-08 school year show that overall 66% of the Bridges students met or exceeded the math standard compared with 61% across the state. In addition, a higher percentage of Bridges students in all reportable subgroups exceeded the mathematics standard compared to their peers statewide. In six of the seven subgroups the difference was 10 percentage points or more. |
Evansville, WY2006-2007 |
Case Study 7Both fifth grade teachers at Evansville Elementary field-tested the pre-publication version of the Bridges Grade 5 curriculum during the 2006-07 school year. The results from the statewide test show the Bridges students outperformed their peers in aggregate and for each student subgroup with reportable data. In addition, almost 40% of the Bridges students scored at the advanced level on the test, compared with 17% of their peers statewide. |
