Kodiak, AK2005-2007 |
Case Study 1The Kodiak Island Borough School District adopted Bridges Grade 4 near the end of the 2004-05 school year. In the next two years the district’s scores show a marked improvement and exceeded state results by a wide margin across all reportable subgroups. |
Oregon2006-2007 |
Case Study 2This case study aggregates data from three different districts in Oregon that used the Bridges in Mathematics Grade 4 curriculum during the 2006-07 school year. Results from the state test show that overall 83% of the Bridges students met or exceeded the math standard, compared with 71% across the state. In addition, a higher percentage of Bridges students in each reportable subgroup exceeded the mathematics standard compared to their peers statewide. |
Oregon2007-2008 |
Case Study 3Data from four districts in Oregon that used the Bridges Grade 4 curriculum during the 2007-08 school year show that overall 86% of the Bridges students met or exceeded the math standard compared with 77% across the state. In addition, a higher percentage of Bridges students in each reportable subgroup exceeded the mathematics standard compared to their peers statewide. |
Middlebury, VT2005-2008 |
Case Study 4Math test results for a cohort of second grade students from Addison Central Supervisory Union (ACSU) were tracked over a four year period beginning in the fall of their third grade year. Compared to their peers statewide, a higher percentage of the ACSU students scored at Proficient and Above and outperformed their peers by an increasing margin in each year of the study. |
Wentachee, WA2006-2007 |
Case Study 5A fourth grade teacher at Sunnyslope Elementary field-tested the Bridges in Mathematics Grade 4 curriculum for two years and used the published version of the curriculum during the 2006-07 school year. The Bridges students outperformed their peers on the state test with 70% of the Bridges students exceeding the mathematics standard, compared with just 33% of students statewide. In addition, 89% of the Bridges students met or exceeded their growth benchmark from year to year. |
Washington2007-2008 |
Case Study 6Data from five districts in Washington that used the Bridges Grade 4 curriculum during the 2007-08 school year show that overall 57% of the Bridges students met or exceeded the math standard compared with 54% across the state. In addition, a higher percentage of Bridges students in five of six reportable subgroups exceeded the mathematics standard compared to their peers statewide. |
Evansville, WY2007-2008 |
Case Study 7Two fourth grade teachers at Evansville Elementary used the Bridges in Mathematics curriculum during the 2007-08 school year. Results from the state test show that overall 88% of the Bridges students scored at or above the proficient level, compared with 77% of the students statewide. In addition, 55% of the Bridges students scored at the advanced level, the highest level possible, compared with just 25% of the state students |
