Case Study 1
The Kodiak Island Borough School District adopted Bridges Grade 4 near the end of the 2004-05 school year. In 2005-06 85% of the Bridges students scored at or above the Proficient Level on the state test compared with 73% of their peers statewide. Also, the district’s scores show a marked improvement from the year before implementation of the Bridges curriculum.

Case Study 2
This case study aggregates data from three different districts in Oregon that used the Bridges in Mathematics Grade 4 curriculum during the 2006-07 school year. Results from the state test show that overall 83% of the Bridges students met or exceeded the math standard, compared with 71% across the state. In addition, a higher percentage of Bridges students in each reportable subgroup exceeded the mathematics standard compared to their peers statewide.

Case Study 3
Fourth grade teachers at Bridgeport Elementary field-tested the pre-publication version of the Bridges in Mathematics Grade 4 curriculum during the 2005-06 school year. At the end of the year 61% of the Bridges students scored at or above the Proficient Level on the state test compared with 59% of their peers statewide with subgroup data revealing much greater differences. In addition, the district’s scores improved noticeably from the year before implementation of the Bridges curriculum.

Two fourth grade teachers in the Wenatchee School District field-tested the pre-publication version of the Bridges in Mathematics Grade 4 curriculum during the 2005-06 school year. At the end of the year 75% of the Bridges students scored at or above the Proficient Level on the state test compared with 59% of their peers statewide. Similar results held across all subgroups with reportable data. District scores also rose relative to the year before implementation of the Bridges curriculum.
