Kodiak, AK2004-2007 |
Case Study 1The Kodiak Island Borough School District adopted Bridges Grade 3 near the end of the 2003-04 school year. For the last three years over 80% of the Bridges students scored at or above the Proficient Level on the state test, exceeding the statewide average each year. |
Canby, OR2004-2005 |
Case Study 2At the start of the 2004-05 school year, the district’s third grade teachers began using the pre-publication version of Bridges Grade 3 and the district adopted the curriculum near the end of the same school year. In 2004-05 91% of third grade students in the district met or exceeded state standards compared to 86% statewide. In addition, a two-year comparison within the district showed a marked improvement year to year. |
Oregon2006-2007 |
Case Study 3This case study aggregates data from a number of classrooms across seven districts in Oregon that used Bridges Grade 3 during the 2006-07 school year. Results from the state test show that overall 78% of the Bridges students met or exceeded the math standard compared with 69% across the state. In addition, a higher percentage of Bridges students in each reportable subgroup met or exceeded the mathematics standard compared to their peers statewide. |
Oregon2007-2008 |
Case Study 4Data from eight districts across the state showed that overall 83% of Bridges students met or exceeded the standard compared to 77% statewide. Also, in all subgroups with reportable data, a higher percentage of Bridges students met or exceeded the math standard compared to their peers across the state. |
Middlebury, VT2005-2008 |
Case Study 5Math test results for a cohort of second grade students from Addison Central Supervisory Union (ACSU) were tracked over a four year period beginning in the fall of their third grade year. Compared to their peers statewide, a higher percentage of the ACSU students scored at Proficient and Above and outperformed their peers by an increasing margin in each year of the study. |
Rainier, WA2006-2007 |
Case Study 6Rainier Primary School in Rainier, Washington field-tested the pre-publication version of the Bridges Grade 3 curriculum during the 2004-05 school year and then moved to the final published version the next year. Overall the Rainier students outperformed their peers in the statewide test in 2006-07. In addition third grade test scores at the school improved from 2005-06 to 2006-07. |

Case Study 7Data from five districts across the state showed that overall 70% of Bridges students met or exceeded the standard compared to 69% statewide. Also, in six of seven subgroups with reportable data, a higher percentage of Bridges students met or exceeded the math standard compared to their peers across the state. |
