Best Practices in Mathematics Teaching Institute
Grade level: K-5
A five-day event designed to help elementary classroom teachers, math coaches and school administrators utilize the best instructional practices that deepen the mathematical understanding of all elementary school children. The Institute's approach is hands-on and experiential. Each morning participants are immersed in a classroom of engaged elementary students who, under the skillful guidance of a master teacher, make sense of challenging math problems and investigations.
In addition to the morning sessions, participants will attend one of the following four afternoon courses:
- A course to help teachers understand the implementation issues of Bridges in Mathematics, a standards-based curriculum, from a best-practices perspective.
- A course that explores the mathematics behind elementary number and algebraic thinking.
- A course for mathematics coaches in elementary school settings.
- A two-day seminar for district and building administrators who want to better understand the issues teachers and principals face as they implement a standards-based, interactive/integrated math program.
Please review each scheduled afternoon session and register for one.
