Bridges in Mathematics: Getting Started
Teachers using Bridges in Mathematics will appreciate the best practice strategies and support offered in this workshop. Participants examine the elements that make up the Bridges curriculum and learn how to use them effectively to differentiate instruction for their students. The workshop focuses on the comprehensive mathematics that students need to know across grades K-5, including problem solving and basic skills practice, based on the new Common Core State Standards. Teachers will also explore assessments, family involvement and homework.
In addition, participants explore broader issues related to teaching and learning. They learn strategies for incorporating manageable, standards-based instruction into the classroom. This workshop provides a variety of engaging examples to bring these ideas to life. Participants develop their own mathematical understanding while focusing on a wide variety of mathematical concepts, including number (computation and estimation), data analysis, algebraic thinking, geometry and measurement.
