Bridges in Mathematics: Getting Started

Teachers using Bridges in Mathematics will appreciate the strategies and support offered in this workshop. Participants examine the elements that make up the Bridges curriculum and learn how to use them effectively. The workshop focuses on the comprehensive mathematics that students need to know across grades K-5 including problem solving, basic skills practice, assessments, and homework. Issues related to classroom implementation of Bridges are discussed as well.

In addition, participants explore broader issues related to teaching and learning. They learn strategies for incorporating manageable, standards-based instruction into the classroom. The workshop provides a variety of engaging examples to bring these ideas to life. Participants develop their own mathematical understanding while focusing on a wide variety of mathematical concepts including algebraic thinking, data analysis, geometry, measurement, number (computation and estimation), and statistical analysis, as well as communication, reasoning, and representation.
