Number Corner
Grade Level: K-5 (Currently offered K-5 by individual or blended grade levels.)
Number Corner is an interactive bulletin board that revolves around the classroom calendar, providing skills practice as well as continual encounters with broader mathematical concepts. Daily workouts involve whole-group games and activities focused on a specific skill or concept. New pieces are added to the display each day providing the basis for discussions, problem solving, and short written assignments including independent practice.
Workshop participants explore problem solving activities that provide a balanced blend of skills practice and concept development, using simple yet powerful mathematical models. Teachers return to their classroom ready to implement grade-level specific lessons that provide practice with computational strategies, place value, money, time, measuring, and patterning and algebraic thinking. Note that those who attend a Bridges Getting Started workshop have already covered this content.
