Additional Resources

The following selection of games and activities will help your child to practice these skills at home.

Numeral Recognition & Counting

Big Bird’s Basketball  Count the number of dots shown on the screen and “shoot” the basketballs marked with the matching number. After you’ve made that many baskets, you get to shoot as many unmarked balls as you can in 15 seconds.

Counting Fish  Count the fish and click on the corresponding number. There are three numbers to choose from. If you choose the wrong one, the narrator gives you a hint by telling you it’s “too many” or “too few.”

Curious George's Busy Day: Flower Garden  Count the flowers that come up in George’s garden.

Endless Numbers App  Selecting a number 1–5 from the spinning Ferris wheel takes you to an interactive animated feature designed to help you recognize the numeral, see its place in the counting sequence, and count the matching quantity in several different ways.

Ordering

Fuzz Bugs—Counting, Sorting & Comparing  Catch the Fuzz Bugs and sort them by color. Count each collection and tell which is most and which is least. Then put the collections in order from least to most.

Ladybird Spots  Count the spots on a ladybug, put a specified number of spots on a ladybug, place each ladybug on the leaf that tells how many spots it has, or put the ladybugs in order from least to most spots.

Oscar’s Rotten Ride  Choose one of three locations and help Oscar build a vehicle to get there by sequencing a set of parts by size or length and choosing the one he asks for (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in line).

Numeral Writing

Elmo Loves 123s Lite Trace the numeral 1, 2, or 3 to access related videos, coloring screens, and activities.

iWriteWords Lite  Use your finger to drag Mr. Crab through a series of numbered circles to form a numeral. Once you’ve completed the numeral, a voice reads it to you, and a tree with that many crabapples appears on the screen.

Shapes & Patterns

Let’s Build It!  Measure an object to find its height and width in “blocks.” Choose the building material, and then fill the outline of the building with shapes (rectangle, triangle, square). (Flash)

Shape Patterns  Place the missing shapes in the pattern to help the monster truck get across the bridge.
